Brasfield & Gorrie Awarded Trinity United Methodist Church Project

November 14, 2012

Construction of new prayer garden and columbarium began in October

HOMEWOOD, AL (November 14, 2012) Brasfield & Gorrie was recently named general contractor for Trinity United Methodist Church’s new prayer garden and columbarium. This $545,000 development will provide a sacred place for meditation and remembrance. Located in Homewood, the 4,500 sq ft project began in October.

“The new prayer garden will provide an outlet for reflection and meditation for our church members and their families,” said Larry Wilson, Chair of the Prayer Garden and Columbarium Committee at Trinity United Methodist Church. “We look forward to working with Brasfield & Gorrie on this meaningful project.”

The project will include a stone labyrinth, fountain area, new columbarium, and memorial panel. The columbarium will be offered to current and former members of Trinity United Methodist Church and their families, and the memorial panel will be used to recognize members who have faithfully served the church. These additions will be located in an outdoor space between the East Narthex and Wesley Hall.

Brasfield & Gorrie is working with Johnson & Company, the architect on the project.

The project was self-funded through the sale of columbarium niches and memorials, as well as through contributions by members and other interested parties.

This will be Brasfield & Gorrie’s second project for Trinity United Methodist Church. In 2005, Brasfield & Gorrie constructed the church’s education building addition and performed an extensive renovation of the original facility.

“We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue building our relationship with Trinity,” said Robby Hayes, Operations Manager at Brasfield & Gorrie. “This prayer garden will add a unique element to the campus and will be a special place all church members can enjoy and appreciate.”

This is Brasfield & Gorrie’s forty-first religious project in Alabama, extending the company’s expertise in the construction of worship facilities.
