Who we are

We’ve been a privately held company since the beginning, which allows us to forge our own path. Less red tape means more efficiency, allowing us to share our company's financial successes with our employees, form deeper relationships with our people and our clients, and stick to our values. Our history

Our story is built from the ground up, with 60+ years of remarkable results.

1964

Miller Gorrie purchases the assets of Thomas C. Brasfield, Inc. in Birmingham, Alabama, and leads his new company to complete its first project.

1965

We complete our first healthcare project, taking the first step on the path to becoming one of the nation’s top healthcare contractors.

1967

We change our name from Thomas C. Brasfield, Inc. to Brasfield & Gorrie, Inc.

1970

We complete a three-story office building in 79 days—finishing 11 days early despite significant delays.

1977

Miller Gorrie decides to expand our construction opportunities into water and wastewater treatment plants.

1980s

The Emerald Coast condo boom peaks, with Brasfield & Gorrie as early players in construction on the Gulf coast of Alabama and Florida. This success was key to our growth.

1984

We open new offices in Atlanta, Georgia and Orlando, Florida.

1991

Construction of a grand stadium with multiple levels of seating is in progress.

We complete the concrete structural frame of Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, the largest covered stadium in the world at the time.

1994

The AT&T Building—called the “Batman Building” by locals—opens in Nashville as the tallest building in Tennessee.

1995

Miller Gorrie announces Jim Gorrie as president of the company, with Miller Gorrie remaining as chairman and CEO.

1997

We officially launch B&G Equipment and Supply LLC, formalizing the equipment shop we'd operated for decades.

1998

We open two new offices in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Nashville, Tennessee.

2002

We finish an emergency bridge replacement on I-65 in downtown Birmingham in 37 days—53 days ahead of schedule.

2003

We complete Homewood Middle School, the first LEED®-certified facility in Alabama and the first middle school in the nation to receive a LEED Silver certification.

2005

The iconic Georgia Aquarium—our first project of this kind and the largest in the world—opens in Atlanta.

2006

We open a new office in Jacksonville, Florida.

2010-2015

We open six new offices: Charlotte, North Carolina; Dallas, Texas; Columbus, Georgia; Greenville, South Carolina; Huntsville, Alabama; and Jackson, Mississippi.

2011

Brasfield & Gorrie receives its first LEED® Platinum certification for Perkins+Will’s headquarters in Atlanta—the highest-scoring project in the Northern Hemisphere at the time of certification.

Jim Gorrie becomes CEO, with Miller Gorrie continuing to serve as chairman.

2016

2017

We complete the $600 million Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, as the managing partner of the American Builders 2017 joint venture.

2021

Brasfield & Gorrie wins ENR Southeast’s Contractor of the Year award. The publication recognizes our revenue growth in 2020, despite challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as several significant project milestones and major projects.

2022

We open our thirteenth office in Miami, Florida.

Rob Blalock is named president of Brasfield & Gorrie, with Jim Gorrie remaining as CEO.

2023

Pylon Building Group launches as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brasfield & Gorrie with a vision of building a team with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skill sets. Reggie Torbor is named as Pylon’s president.
