Safety

Our Top Priority

Safety is our top priority so it’s also our top value, and at Brasfield & Gorrie, it’s everyone’s responsibility. Since our company’s creation in 1964, safety has guided our decision-making process. Chairman and Founder Miller Gorrie said it best: “We will not compromise safety for schedule, cost, or production.”

That alone says enough, but at Brasfield & Gorrie, we’re motivated to do more. Instead of simply implementing safety standards, we’re creating a culture of safety throughout the company, investing in continuous improvement through education, and using our technological resources—such as VDC and BIM—to enhance our project safety efforts. To emphasize our individual responsibility, our SEE IT, OWN IT, SHARE IT® initiative reflects our emphasis on the essential role each of us plays in creating an injury-free environment.

Complying with regulatory standards is also a given, but again, we don’t stop there. To broaden our impact, we share best practices with our industry peers and partner with regulatory agencies. We were the first contractor in the Southeast to partner with OSHA in a Strategic Partnership Program on a construction project, and we’ve since participated in numerous OSHA partnerships, even earning Voluntary Protection Program Star certification on an Arizona airport expansion project.

Brasfield & Gorrie is an Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Accredited Quality Contractor and regularly receives top safety honors and awards, including:

  • ABC’s Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) top three award tiers since 2001, including its highest recognition, the Diamond Award, in 2015 and 2018
  • Southern Company’s Triangle Safety Award for safety performance—an award presented yearly to only a small percentage of contractors (2014, 2017, 2018)
