Recruiting Top Talent
Building exceptional people is part of our purpose, and we are taking intentional steps to recruit and hire people who are traditionally underrepresented in the construction industry. For years, we’ve worked with organizations like the National Association of Women in Construction and the ACE Mentor Program of America to engage female and minority talent. Today we are taking greater steps to implement strategies to reach a diverse pipeline of future construction leaders through recruiting at historically Black colleges and universities and engaging in workforce development initiatives throughout our footprint.
Our diversity and inclusion efforts are not just about recruiting top talent, but also creating an inclusive and fulfilling experience for all employees. Resources like our Operational Women’s Network provide a place for women holding positions in construction operations to lead and grow together.
Supplier and Trade Contractor Inclusion
Our construction partners are an important part of our success. Increasing access to opportunities for minority and women-owned companies in our business is essential to our supplier and trade contractor strategy. This starts with building trusting relationships, and we are working every day to engage and support more diverse companies.
In 2019 we launched EQUIP, which offers small and minority trade contractors access to educational workshops on industry best practices, upcoming project opportunities, and networking opportunities with our Preconstruction and project teams. We actively mentor and strategically partner with more than 20 diverse companies and are committed to helping them advance and grow in our industry.
Inclusive Leadership Development
In our company, we believe that everyone is a leader, and we all have a part to play in creating an inclusive work environment. We know the best results, solutions to challenging problems, and great projects come from teams that are committed to working well together with every voice at the table being heard and appreciated.
We focus on the inclusive leadership development of all employees to help strengthen their awareness and commitment to an inclusive culture that results in great teams. Through speaker programs, book studies, listening sessions, and a variety of education opportunities, we empower employees to embrace our diversity and inclusion mission in their everyday work.
