Wallace Dam Forebay Oxygenation System

Sparta, Georgia

Client:
Georgia Power

This project’s goal was to increase the overall dissolved oxygen in the discharged water from the trail race to meet the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s required 4.0mg/L standard during hydroelectric generation. This was achieved by installing an oxygenation system and making necessary site improvements to support the new system.

Lake Oconee serves as a reservoir for the Wallace Hydroelectric Plant. This project is important in the improvement of increasing dissolved oxygen levels in the reservoir to help handle peaking hydro turbine flows.

Our scope of work included grading, concrete and asphalt paving, foundations for the oxygenation system, as well as furnishing and installing the oxygenation system equipment and fencing.
