North Carolina Hydropower Station Spillway Modification

Lilesville, North Carolina

Confidential Client

Located at a hydroelectric power station, this project included modifications to the spillway crest, an addition of post-tensioned rock anchors, and replacement of spillway flashboards with pneumatically operated gates. It also included the installation of a downstream fish passage, upstream eel passage facility, fish diversion boom, and replacement of a debris boom.

The modification required significant concrete demolition to create an opening for the downstream fish passage. Because this project is in and around a river, with limited vehicular access, most of the work was performed via barges. Our team self-performed site work, concrete, marine equipment, piping, and equipment installation.
