The substructure replacement of the CSX bridge over Tanyard Creek consisted of installing eight steel pipe pile foundations with rock sockets, four precast bent caps, and two retaining walls.

To reach the bridge location, the project team constructed site access through the middle of Atlanta. Temporary work platforms were built on the rail embankment to allow the drill rig to be lifted via crane onto the platforms to drill rock sockets and set pipe pile. The substructure portion of the bridge allowed us to turn the bridge over to CSX to begin setting superstructure spans.
