This design-build, 257,410 gross sq ft, five-story courthouse is a model of innovative design and construction excellence. The courthouse includes five courtrooms and seven judge’s chambers and also houses the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court, U.S. Attorneys, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Trustees, U.S. Probation, a senatorial office, the Public Defender, the Department of Labor, U.S. Bankruptcy, and GSA’s Shreveport office.
The Tom Stagg Federal Building and United States Courthouse received the ENERGY STAR Award and was chosen as the International Office Building of the Year in the Government Building Category by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). According to GSA, “Its construction set the benchmark for other federal courthouses built throughout the United States—saving taxpayers millions of dollars.” The building is complemented by the award-winning Art-in-Architecture Program sculpture Justice Victorious.
