The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority Central Water Reclamation Facility project involved the construction of a new wastewater treatment facility to replace the Main Street Wastewater Treatment Plant. The advanced wastewater treatment facility accommodates 25 million gallons per day (MGD) and a peak flow of 40 MGD. Construction included supplemental site clearing, excavation, grading, site work, headworks, five-stage biological nutrient removal basins, secondary clarifiers, tertiary filtration systems, chlorine contact chambers, return-activated sludge/waste-activated sludge (RAS/WAS) and scum pump stations, chlorination generation and feed equipment, influent and effluent equalization tankage and pump stations, sludge holding tanks, a biosolids handling facility, a complete electrical system, and yard piping, valves, fittings, and manholes. The project included 38,000 cubic yards of cast-in-place concrete and 10,000 cubic yards of prestressed concrete.
