Brasfield & Gorrie Breaks Ground on New Thomasville Regional Medical Center

Construction underway on new hospital and medical office building

Birmingham, Ala. (March 30, 2015) –Brasfield & Gorrie today announced that construction is underway on Thomasville Regional Medical Center (TRMC), a new $24 million hospital and medical office building in Thomasville, Alabama. A groundbreaking ceremony on March 28, 2015, marked the start of work.

The 82,700 sq ft construction project will include a new 29-bed hospital and medical office building. This project is part of a $40 million capital investment by TRMC for the city of Thomasville.

“The new state-of-the-art facilities will offer advanced patient care to the Thomasville community,” said TRMC Partner Curtis James. James is the former President and CEO of St. Vincent’s Health System in Birmingham, Alabama.

TRMC-groundbreaking-1-webThe new hospital will fill a critical need in the rural Clarke County region, where residents currently travel up to 90 miles for medical care.

“Thomasville is the center of a vast rural region of Southwest Alabama. The city’s success in attracting new jobs and capital investment to this area is now beginning to spread into surrounding counties. A new hospital will provide the quality care and facilities that are so desperately needed in this region,” said Thomasville Mayor Sheldon Day.

Serving as general contractor, Brasfield & Gorrie is teaming with Earl Swensson Associates, the city of Thomasville, New City Advisors, and TRMC on this project, which will be completed in December 2016. Brasfield & Gorrie was recently ranked by Modern Healthcare as the No. 3 general contractor in healthcare construction, based on 2014 revenues.
