Brasfield & Gorrie Celebrates Construction Milestone at Manufacturing Facility

May 22, 2023

A group of construction workers gather around tables inside of a facility that's under construction. The left side of the facility is open to the outdoors.

Construction crews recently celebrated the topping out of 438,000 sq ft secure office, lab and manufacturing building in McKinney, Texas. Topping out marks a building reaching its full height. Construction will now move to the interior of the building, which is scheduled for completion in early 2024.

Raytheon Intelligence & Space, a Raytheon Technologies business, will occupy the facility. It’s an extension of the company’s recently completed Advanced Integration and Manufacturing Center. The new manufacturing facility will include approximately 259,200 sq ft of general manufacturing and clean room space, which have extensive mechanical, electrical and plumbing requirements. The office footprint will be approximately 43,200 sq ft per floor, including a connection to the existing building and elevator lobby areas, and it will consist of a four-story tower on top of the manufacturing component. The project also includes an elevated seventh floor observation tower.

Corgan is the architect and KDC is the developer.

“Raytheon continues to grow and improve its capacity for developing advanced technology, and this facility will continue that mission while also creating jobs for 700 people in North Texas,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Vice President and Division Manager Michael Tortorici. “The construction expertise of the men and women who are constructing this facility is essential to its success, and topping out is an opportunity to celebrate their hard work.”

It’s been more than 25 years since Brasfield & Gorrie began its first aviation and aerospace project. Since then, the general contractor has completed more than $1 billion of work in this market sector, including multiple projects for Raytheon.
