Brasfield & Gorrie first began construction of the 13-story, 1 million sq ft hospital building in 2002, completing the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure and exterior shell before the project was shuttered. A decade later, a new owner selected Brasfield & Gorrie and strategic partner A.G. Gaston as construction managers to complete the facility. The scope included the build-out of the mostly unfinished hospital building as well as related construction of an eight-story, 220,000 sq ft medical office building and a 1.2 million sq ft parking garage.

The project team employed a wide range of methods and technologies to successfully complete the hospital’s extensive retrocommissioning, which cut costs, increased efficiency, and initiated new ways to capture and organize data throughout the construction process. The new hospital offers 372 beds and one empty shell floor for future beds. Included are 72 intensive care unit beds, 17 rehabilitation beds, 60 psychiatric beds, 14 post-partum beds, and 209 medical/surgical beds. The facility also includes 30 operating rooms and space for future expansion.
