General contractor Brasfield & Gorrie has started construction on phase two of Memorial Stadium renovations at Clemson University. The project includes renovations of the football team’s locker room and an updated parking lot that will feature Tiger Walk and enhance the gameday experience while providing better safety features within the lot 365 days a year.

“We’re grateful to continue work that will maintain Memorial Stadium’s place among the best facilities in NCAA football,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Vice President and Division Manager Ben Barfield. “Last year we completed projects that improved the game day experience for fans—which include more than 100 of Brasfield & Gorrie’s own team members. The current renovations will enhance the experience for the team and coaching staff.”

In addition to a complete renovation of the locker room, Brasfield & Gorrie will update the training, coaching, and officials’ game day spaces. The project will also add a center tunnel behind the west end zone to allow players to enter and exit the field for warmups directly from the locker room.

The project also includes an overhaul of the Rogers Family Lot, located directly behind the West End Zone complex. The new lot will greatly enhance Tiger Walk, the path that the team parades through two hours prior to kickoff of each home game. Spanning from Perimeter Road to the entrance of the oculus, Tiger Walk will be distinguished by pavers, brick and precast columns, and a gateway arch at the entrance. The lot includes upgraded lighting walking areas and green spaces for 365-day use, as well as new landscaping, paving and dedicated spaces for game day restroom trailers. The project includes nearly 120 new trees and other greenspace.

The project is scheduled for completion prior to the 2023 football season. The design team includes LS3P Associates and AECOM.

Brasfield & Gorrie completed the first phase of Memorial Stadium renovations in 2022. That phase included adding premium seating and club spaces, upgrading the video board, and adding accessible seating. The general contractor also recently broke ground on the Clemson Women’s Sports Program Expansion project.

Brasfield & Gorrie has worked in South Carolina for nearly 40 years and has more than $350 million of projects completed or underway in the Clemson area. The general contractor opened a full-service, brick and mortar office in Greenville in 2013 and has worked on nearly 200 projects in South Carolina.

In addition, the firm has extensive experience with football stadiums, including Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama; Jordan-Hare Stadium at Auburn University; Tiger Stadium at LSU; and others.
