Brasfield & Gorrie and its subcontractors, the University Athletic Association and officials from the University of Florida on Tuesday celebrated the topping out of the university’s new baseball stadium. Topping out marks the completion of the building’s concrete and steel structure.

“This facility will heighten the baseball fan’s experience at Florida’s flagship university and provide a state-of-the-art facility for one of the best baseball programs in the country. The university’s athletic facilities are among the country’s finest and Brasfield & Gorrie, along with our team of subcontractor partners, is honored to be a part of this unique experience,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Vice President and Division Manager Erik Sharpe. “We are very thankful for all the skilled craftsmen whose efforts have helped us get to this point. In addition to the many skilled subcontracting professionals, Brasfield & Gorrie self-performed various aspects of the steel and concrete structure, including the walls, the grand entry staircase, the structural steel foundations and other elements of the building, which allowed our team to maintain superior control over the project’s budget and schedule.”

The projected $65 million project will accommodate an overall capacity of 7,000, with more than 4,000 permanent chairback seats.

Brasfield & Gorrie’s Jacksonville office is managing the project. Its past projects include the renovation of Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center, the addition and renovation of the UF gymnastics facility, and the Indoor Football Practice Facility. Additionally, Brasfield & Gorrie is currently building the UF Health Ambulatory Care facility at Wildlight in Nassau County and a new parking garage on the main Gainesville campus. Populous Architects and its consultants designed the stadium, which is on track for completion in summer of 2020.
