New opportunities are on the horizon for students at Christ Church Episcopal School as Brasfield & Gorrie tops out the 81,500-square-foot campus expansion in Greenville. The milestone marks the placement of the final structural beam, signaling the building’s framework is complete.

The expansion adds two new facilities to the K-12 campus. A 22,000-square-foot education building will house labs, classrooms and huddle rooms, connecting to the existing school through an elevated bridge. A 59,500-square-foot sports performance facility will feature a basketball court, strength and conditioning center, hydrotherapy and turf areas and locker rooms. The project also includes a redesigned campus loop road to support the updated site.

“Topping out is the moment the structure speaks for itself. The steel is set, the form is taking shape, and there’s no question this campus is being transformed,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Vice President and Division Manager Ryan Ries. “For a school like Christ Church Episcopal School, which trusted us with their students’ daily environment from the very first day of construction, reaching this milestone means more than checking a box on the schedule. It reflects the trust the school placed in our team and the commitment every person on this jobsite has shown to earn it. We’re focused on making sure the finished product is worthy of both.”

“This milestone celebrates the hard work of our construction partners and provides another visible symbol of our transformational process,” said David Padilla, head of school at Christ Church Episcopal School. “It serves as the embodiment of the CCES commitment to continuous improvement, reflects our dedication to programmatic elevation and further solidifies our position as leaders in innovative education in Greenville and beyond.”

Construction on the active campus requires ongoing coordination with school leadership with milestones aligned to the academic and athletic calendars, including early delivery of the practice field for fall sports.

Serving as general contractor, Brasfield & Gorrie expands its growing South Carolina presence with nearly 200 projects completed statewide, anchored by its Greenville office opened in 2013.

McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture serves as the project’s architect. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2027.
