Highway 231 Emergency Bridge Construction

This emergency bridge construction project included the construction of two bridges to support northbound and southbound traffic over an area where a landslide damaged the roadway.

The two-lane bridges are comprised of seven 135-foot spans (PSC girders), approximately 1,000 feet each. The bridges were built with enough clearance to allow stormwater to move beneath them without impacting the structure.

With an extremely aggressive schedule, our team installed 32 drilled shafts that are 9.5 ft in diameter and socketed 15 ft into bedrock, completing the twin bridges two months ahead of schedule.
