North Graham Street apartment complex celebrates construction milestone

Daniel Corporation and general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie recently topped out North Graham Street, a seven-story, luxury apartment complex in Charlotte’s Historic Fourth Ward district. Topping out marks an important construction milestone when the project reaches its full height.

Located on the corner of Sixth Street and North Graham Street, the project is incorporating the existing façade from the former Fourth Ward Bread Co. building to blend with the surrounding historic neighborhood.

“This is an exciting milestone for our team, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to continue our partnership with a longtime client,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Vice President and Division Manager Michael Byrd. “Together, we’ve embraced the challenge of preserving the existing building façade while adding modern, elevated amenities on the inside. Our goal is to build a vibrant space that will serve residents and the community for years to come.”

The 241-unit, 376,322 square foot multifamily building will feature studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments alongside an elevated pool deck, fitness space, a club room, co-working space, retail space, and a dog spa. Brasfield & Gorrie self-performed 11,636 cubic yards of concrete poured onsite. The 2.5-story cast-in-place concrete podium features a below-grade parking level, slab-on-grade units and amenities, as well as elevated parking and residential slabs. Using its own people to complete work gives the general contractor more control over schedule and pricing.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate this major milestone and to be one step closer to delivering an exceptional community in the heart of Charlotte,” says Daniel Corporation Senior Vice President Cameron Conner. “This project reflects Daniel’s commitment to creating unique projects and superior living experiences for our residents.”

The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026, when it will begin welcoming residents.

Brasfield & Gorrie has worked in North Carolina for nearly 40 years. The general contractor opened a full-service, brick and mortar office in Charlotte in 2010 and has worked on more than 850 projects in the state.
