Brasfield & Gorrie Relocates Atlanta-Area Office

November 5, 2018

Brasfield & Gorrie today opens its relocated Cobb County office in the area around SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta. The move from the company’s previous Kennesaw location to a completely renovated 113,000 sq ft office building increases the company’s space by about 43,000 sq ft and will allow the general contractor to continue to expand in a growing, conveniently located neighborhood.

“This move gives our people enhanced proximity to our projects and our clients,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Regional President Rob Blalock. “It makes sense for us to be at a central hub where highways come together, where we have easy access to our clients, our projects and the airport,” Blalock said.

Brasfield & Gorrie’s new office at 2999 Circle 75 Parkway repurposes an existing pair of connected three-story buildings. The buildings were originally constructed in the late 1970s and early 1980s and underwent a complete renovation to modernize the exterior and interior. A portion of the exterior received curtainwall glass to bring additional light into the building and provide an updated facade at its entrance.

Beyond the main entrance is a three-story atrium leading to a conference center, training room and social space that connects to an expanded outdoor area with lounge and dining seating and a bocce court.

Removing interior walls and installing glass fronts on offices and conference rooms opened up the building’s interior spaces. Intended to encourage collaboration among employees, work cafes, huddle rooms and gathering areas are distributed throughout the buildings.

“The whole basis of the new design is to try to get people out of their offices and collaborating in teams more often,” Blalock said. “That’s the nature of our business. Almost everything we do is project-based, which makes it team-based.”

Brasfield & Gorrie incorporated sustainable elements throughout the office. LED lighting and Energy Star rated appliances, HVAC equipment and windows reduce energy consumption, and water-efficient plumbing features will reduce water consumption by 20 percent annually. The building includes locally sourced and salvaged materials, which decreased the facility’s carbon footprint while contributing to the local economy.

The move reinforces the company’s continued commitment to Cobb County, where it has had an office for 18 of the 30 years it has served the Atlanta metro area. It also highlights the company’s deep involvement in the growing area around SunTrust Park, which Brasfield & Gorrie constructed as the managing partner of American Builders 2017, the joint venture that built the new ballpark. Brasfield & Gorrie also constructed the Omni Atlanta Hotel at The Battery Atlanta as well as the structure of One Ballpark Center, a nine-story, 250,000 sq ft office building that serves as Comcast’s Central Division headquarters. The company has also been awarded the contract for Three Ballpark Center, an office building developed by the Atlanta Braves. The building will serve as the headquarters of thyssenkrupp Elevator Americas.

Those Cobb County clients have become partners, said Regional President Trey Sanders. “When we started looking for a new office, we knew we wanted to stay in the county,” he said. “We want to honor our Cobb County relationships while continuing our growth in a location that’s accessible to clients throughout the metro area.”
