Brasfield & Gorrie Constructing Second Vertical Expansion of WakeMed Cary Hospital

November 21, 2019

General contractor Brasfield & Gorrie has broken ground on its second vertical expansion project for WakeMed Cary Hospital. The new expansion—which will include patient rooms, clinical support space, a penthouse and a new helipad—will increase the hospital’s square footage and its ability to serve the surrounding community.

Including this project, Brasfield & Gorrie has four active projects in Cary. This expansion is the general contractor’s 84th project for repeat client WakeMed Health & Hospitals.

“The growth at WakeMed Cary Hospital creates an exciting time for us, and I know we are eagerly looking forward to welcoming patients into the new spaces,” said Tom Gough, WakeMed Senior Vice President and Administrator, Community Hospitals. “This large project is a testament to the investment WakeMed is making in Cary as well as the healthcare needs of citizens in southern and western Wake County towns and communities.”

Brasfield & Gorrie Project Director Missy Warren also served as project manager on the hospital’s initial vertical expansion. Notably, key leaders from the architect, owner and engineer side are also women.

“Brasfield & Gorrie appreciates the opportunity to return to WakeMed Cary Hospital, and we’re excited to help this valued client meet the healthcare needs of the growing Cary community,” said Warren. “I’m also honored to work on this project alongside so many dynamic female leaders who are passionate about their roles and our industry.”

The project is set for completion in early 2021.
