Before the City of Baton Rouge could close and dismantle its outdated Central Wastewater Treatment Plant as part of a $1.3 billion sewer system improvement, they needed to upgrade another nearby plant. Brasfield & Gorrie completed this state-of-the-art project across two phases, expanding the South Wastewater Treatment Plant to accommodate 205 million gallons per day (MGD) peak treatment flow and an additional 66 MGD excess flow to equalization storage.
