General Services Administration Selects Brasfield & Gorrie for Charlotte US Courthouse

Brasfield & Gorrie has been awarded a contract for the new U.S. Courthouse Annex and alteration of the Charles R. Jonas U.S. Courthouse.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 14, 2018) – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has selected Brasfield & Gorrie as the Construction Manager as Constructor (CMc) for the new U.S. courthouse annex and renovation of the historic Charles R. Jonas U.S. Courthouse (Jonas Courthouse), located in midtown Charlotte. The Charlotte courthouse project is part of the GSA’s $947 million Fiscal Year 2016 Courthouse Investment Plan.

The Charlotte courthouse project includes construction of a new 198,000 sq ft annex and renovation to the historic Jonas Courthouse, originally constructed in 1915 and last expanded in 1934. Brasfield & Gorrie will work collaboratively with the project team, including lead designer Jenkins Peer Architects in association with Robert A.M. Stern Architects and CGL Ricci Greene Architects. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2018.

Brasfield & Gorrie has worked in the Charlotte market since 1999 and established a Charlotte office in 2011. In the region, the company has completed 130 projects valued at more than $865 million. Notable projects in the area include the Perimeter Woods Office Building I, in addition to the CaroMont Regional Medical Center Emergency Department and the Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center.

Currently, Brasfield & Gorrie is constructing a number of projects in Charlotte, including a build-out at the Regions Bank offices downtown, the Ally Charlotte Center in uptown, and several projects with Atrium Health, among others. The company recently completed the award-winning AvidXchange office headquarters and the 300-unit Solis Southline apartments.
