Raleigh, N.C. (July 22, 2014) – Brasfield & Gorrie today announced that the company has completed construction of a freestanding emergency department at Carolinas HealthCare System SouthPark in Charlotte, N.C.

The project, which totaled $17.5 million in construction costs, involved a one-story, 30,000 sq ft freestanding emergency department as well as a three-level, 60,000 sq ft parking deck addition. Located adjacent to the medical buildings and urgent care operation at Carolinas HealthCare System SouthPark, the facility includes 14 treatment rooms, two observation rooms, laboratories and a pharmacy.

Serving as construction manager, Brasfield & Gorrie’s Raleigh office partnered with architect BBH Design on this project. The team incorporated numerous innovations in the construction of this facility, including the use of building information modeling (BIM) to a degree not previously seen in the Charlotte market.
