Brasfield & Gorrie Celebrates Topping Out Milestone on WellStar Paulding Hospital

Leading-edge hospital on schedule to see first patients in April 2014

Atlanta, Georgia (March 18, 2013) On Friday, March 15, Brasfield & Gorrie celebrated the topping out, or completion of the structure’s top floor, of WellStar Paulding Hospital located outside Atlanta in Hiram, Georgia.

When completed, the hospital will be seven stories and 295,000 sq ft. Also being constructed as part of this project are a 120,000 sq ft precast parking deck and a four-story, 82,220 sq ft medical office building. The hospital will house emergency exam rooms, pediatric emergency exam rooms, surgery suites, decentralized nursing stations, patient rooms, administrative offices, and a café.

This is Brasfield & Gorrie’s 52nd project with WellStar Health System. CDH Partners, Inc., is the project architect.

WellStar Paulding Hospital broke ground in January 2012, and Brasfield & Gorrie completed geothermal drilling on the facility in November 2012.The hospital will be one of the nation’s first to be conditioned solely by geothermal energy.

WellStar Paulding Hospital is expected to open its doors to patients in April 2014.
