This 225,000 sq ft multistory and multiwing bachelor enlisted quarters (BEQ) complex consists of 402 rooms for 804 Marines and a 650-vehicle multistory garage. Ancillary structures at the BEQ include recreational and drying shelters, equipment cleaning areas, athletic courts, and landscaped courtyards.
The project includes notable sustainable features, such as a 78,000 sq ft solar field with an 811 kW photovoltaic array on the parking deck to generate on-site renewable energy. Thirty percent of the domestic hot water demand can be generated through solar thermal water heating systems installed in addition to the photovoltaic electricity-generation array. The BEQ also incorporates geothermal heating and cooling systems for maximum energy efficiency.
