Progress Energy’s Crystal River Nuclear Plant Unit 3 Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) project consists of construction of concrete pads and surrounding aprons. The scope of work includes all site work, storm drains, slab-on-grade concrete work, security fencing, and other related work. The project also includes the demolition, removal, and relocation of existing facilities to make room for the new ISFSI facility and related structures. An extension of the existing fire protection system and installation of a new fire protection system are included in the project. Site work for this project includes grading, drainage, and embankment. The reinforced concrete storage pads will provide a stable platform for storage tanks and canisters as well as provide storm water drainage of the ISFSI.
