The project included extensive powerhouse modifications at Georgia Power Company’s Goat Rock Dam to accommodate two new horizontal bulb-type turbines, generators, and associated equipment. This work included setting new downstream stop logs; extensive demolition and modification of the existing concrete powerhouse structure; modification of the water passages, including a new steel penstock liner, concrete flow splitter; and other balance of plant facilities. On-site work extended over an eight-month period.
