North Carolina Hydropower Station Upstream Fish Passage

Because the Pee Dee River is a prominent habitat for migratory fish species like the American shad, it was important that the Blewett Falls hydroelectric power station allow these populations to thrive. Brasfield & Gorrie was selected to build a fish passage that would enable these species to swim upstream during their spawning season. This included a trap for the fish and a facility for sorting and transporting them as well as an extension of the existing attraction flow piping.
