Construction Underway on New Westin Jackson Hotel

Groundbreaking ceremony marks start of work on new luxury hotel
Jackson, Miss. (Aug. 4, 2015) – A groundbreaking ceremony today marked the start of construction on a new WestinTM Jackson hotel in Jackson, Mississippi.
Slated to open in January 2017, the 169,000 sq ft structure will be the first luxury global hotel brand in Jackson. The nine-story hotel will feature 205 guest rooms.
“This kind of an investment in downtown impacts the entire region and helps support our efforts to make Jackson a destination city,” said Jackson 
Mayor Tony T. Yarber. “We are proud that the Westin Jackson is part of the growth and progress of our great city.”
Participants in the development include Capital Hotel Associates, Hinds County, Jackson Redevelopment Authority, the State of Mississippi and Wischermann Partners. Brasfield & Gorrie is serving as general contractor and Elness Swenson Graham Architects Inc. is the project architect.
This will be the second Westin hotel constructed by Brasfield & Gorrie. In a joint venture arrangement with Monumental Contracting Services, Brasfield & Gorrie completed the Westin Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2012.

Our team wants to help make this city a destination for tourists and travelers.”
