Brasfield & Gorrie Named Contractor of the Year, Earns Top Honors from National Construction Organization

Company named Contractor of the Year, receives 12 national awards from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)

Birmingham, Ala. (March 6, 2015) –Brasfield & Gorrie today announced that the company has been named Contractor of the Year by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), a national construction organization representing 22,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms. The award was presented during ABC’s national awards banquet in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

“Brasfield & Gorrie’s dedication to workforce development, safety and producing the highest quality construction projects is a tremendous example of all that the merit shop philosophy stands for,” said 2015 ABC National Chair Pamela Volm, president of Annapolis Contracting, Inc., Annapolis, Maryland. “Brasfield & Gorrie has been recognized throughout the industry for their commitment to green building, innovation and continually developing industry best practices, and we are very happy to honor them with ABC’s highest award.”

In addition to receiving the Contractor of the Year award, the highest honor given by ABC, the contractor earned 12 national honors for projects in a variety of markets, including healthcare, federal, public works, commercial, industrial, and entertainment. These Excellence in Construction awards included five first-place Eagle awards, three second-place Pyramid awards, two Productivity awards, one Greener Tomorrow Award and one Design-Build Award.

The five projects recognized by ABC with first-place Eagle awards are Carolinas HealthCare System SouthPark Emergency Department in Charlotte, North Carolina; C Spire Systems Operations Center in Starkville, Mississippi; Dodson Chapel Equalization Tank and Wastewater Pump Station in Nashville, Tennessee; Kimberly Hampton Primary School at Fort Bragg in Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and St. Vincent’s Medical Center Northeast Inpatient Expansion in Fishers, Indiana.

Of these first-place projects, two were selected for Productivity awards, a special honor given to select Eagle award winners who used innovative productivity methods: Carolinas HealthCare System SouthPark Emergency Department in Charlotte, North Carolina, and C Spire Systems Operations Center in Starkville, Mississippi.

The three projects that received second-place Pyramid awards are Cheyenne Prairie Generating Station/Civil Substructure Package in Cheyenne, Wyoming; College Football Hall of Fame and Chick-Fil-A Fan Experience in Atlanta, Georgia; and Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center in Haymarket, Virginia.

Additionally, Kimberly Hampton Primary School at Fort Bragg in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, earned Greener Tomorrow and Design-Build awards.
