Atlanta, Ga. – As part of ongoing safety efforts on the Atlanta Braves’ SunTrust Park, American Builders 2017 has teamed up with Kids Chance, a nonprofit organization that supports children affected by catastrophic workplace accidents.

This partnership is designed to promote safety awareness and education on the jobsite, in the construction industry, and in the community at large. Additionally, American Builders 2017 has committed to fund two five-year scholarships for Georgia students affected by construction-related accidents.

“This partnership helps reinforce the value of safety,” said American Builders 2017 Safety Director Lisa Capicik. “By supporting Kids Chance, we keep the reality of construction dangers top of mind and make our safety efforts personal,” said Capicik.

Leading up to the construction industry’s Safety Week, which runs May 3-9, 2015, the SunTrust Park project team hosted two safety events to plan for and provide training on site-specific safety issues. These events included the Committed at the Top meeting, where executive-level leadership from all joint-venture and major subcontractor partners focused on the project’s safety and quality expectations, and a site-wide safety luncheon for all workers to reinforce the ongoing safety program.

During these two events, Kids Chance representatives spoke to the project team, applauding their efforts to maintain a safe jobsite and reminding attendees of the far-reaching implications of their safety practices.

American Builders 2017 broke ground on SunTrust Park in August 2014. The project is expected to be completed in spring 2017.
