The Cottages at St. Martin’s are the first multistory Green House® homes to be constructed and the first assisted living facilities of their kind in the state of Alabama. Designed to deinstitutionalize healthcare—to be “simply home”—Green House homes offer a unique environment for individuals requiring long-term care. These facilities encourage residents to build relationships with others by keeping small groups of people together, providing residents with a sense of family and belonging.

Phase I consists of two 21,500 sq ft, three-story buildings located on St. Martin’s 9.6-acre site. Phase II consists of a three-story, 21,500 sq ft building. Each building was designed to accommodate one completely independent house per floor, and each house consists of a fully functional kitchen, family-style dining area, common and outside sitting areas, and 10 individual rooms with full, private baths. The ground floor features a garden area with a fountain and security gates. The second and third floors provide a screened-in porch. Each building contains a hydraulic elevator and two sets of egress stairs.
