Georgia Power

Project Size:
21,080 cubic yards of concrete, 1,660 tons of reinforcing steel, 2,200 anchor bolts, and 15,000 tons of stone backfill

A product of Southern Company, Plant Hammond is one of 11 coal-fired power plants providing electricity in Georgia. Plant Hammond has four generating units that have been providing power to the community for over 40 years. This project consisted of installation of the concrete foundations, embedded electrical, site grading, site paving, storm piping, and epoxy linings for the Plant Hammond Wet Flue Gas Desulphurization project. The foundations ranged in size and shape from small piers to mass foundations in excess of 4,000 cubic yards. They totaled over 21,080 cubic yards of concrete, 1,660 tons of reinforcing steel, 2,200 anchor bolts, and 15,000 tons of stone backfill. Approximately 10,000 sq ft of epoxy linings were installed in three large sump pits and associated trenches. Brasfield & Gorrie self-performed 80 percent of the work, and the project was completed on time and under budget.
