The Orlando Regional Medical Center Expansion included construction of an 11-story, 350,000 sq ft curved bed tower to the north, a four-story, 100,000 sq ft emergency department expansion that wraps around the south and east sides of the existing structure, and a 153,000 sq ft renovation to the existing hospital. This highly collaborative project also included expanding one of the health system’s central energy plants with services to provide steam, chilled water, and emergency power to the bed tower. Several mock-up rooms were built in a nearby warehouse, including operating rooms, the ED exam area, a nurses station, and ICU and regular rooms.
