The expansion and upgrade of the Northwest Water Reclamation Facility consists of modifying the existing facilities and constructing additional facilities to increase the nitrogen treatment capacity of the plant and to comply with the latest nitrogen removal regulations and provide for a future annual average flow of 10.3 million gallons per day (MGD) and a peak hour flow of 22 MGD. The project includes improving the preliminary pretreatment structure; changing the secondary treatment process to a five-stage Bardenpho-type process; constructing a new blower building with high-speed turbo blowers and bridge crane; and installing new clarifier launder covers, return activated sludge (RAS) pumps and piping, and disc filters. Also included are instrumentation and controls systems, site work, structural repairs, and coatings.
