Huntsville Hospital People Mover
Two 1,600 feet long elevated guide rails
ABC Excellence in Construction Award
AGC Build Alabama Award
This project consisted of the construction of two elevated guide rails to support two People Movers, or cable cars, across four stations. Each guide rail is approximately 1,600 feet long and supported by 30-inch square columns and 12-foot-wide caps. This transportation system is used to move patients and personnel between four buildings at Huntsville Hospital. Brasfield & Gorrie self-performed all the concrete construction.
Brasfield & Gorrie was heavily involved in this project from the design review through the construction process. The project had a tight construction area, with multiple crafts working at the same time. Despite the challenges, Brasfield & Gorrie successfully minimized disruptions and delivered a highly technical product with superior quality.
