This three-story, 440,000 sq ft facility contains over 8 million gallons of fresh and salt water and over 100,000 cubic yards of structural concrete. The water treatment system consists of three processes: mechanical filtration through sand filters and oils; biomass treatment through fractionators; and disinfection through ozone injection. The large ocean tank (6.3 million gallons) contains one watertight gate, a gantry crane, and a cast-in-place concrete 45-foot-high hydraulic structure. The smaller, 860,000-gallon tank contains a hydraulic lift and four gates, two watertight. The facility also includes 114,000 sq ft of exhibit space, a laboratory, kitchen, food court, theater, educational space, veterinary services, and a cast-in-place concrete, 1,650-space parking deck.
