The three-story, 54,000 sq ft Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes aims to take the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diabetes and obesity to the next level. Brasfield & Gorrie provided preconstruction and construction management for the facility. Two of the three stories were built out, with the remaining floor shelled for future growth. The facility includes clinical resource medical offices, a biorepository, a metabolic test core, an imaging suite, research computing areas, and an administrative core. The biorepository collects, catalogs, and store samples of biological material such as urine, blood, tissue, cells, DNA, RNA and protein from patients and animals for laboratory research. The cutting-edge metabolic test core utilizes calorimeters to collect data through breath-by-breath analysis.
