The Green Square Complex is a sustainable development project that brings North Carolina’s state environmental offices and the nationally significant Nature Research Center to the heart of North Carolina’s capital city. The 150,000 sq ft, five-story Department of Environment and Natural Resources office building is connected via a one-level bridge over McDowell Street to the remaining DENR offices, which were incorporated as part of the Nature Research Center building.
The Green Square Complex is LEED Platinum certified, and its features include an under-floor air distribution system, a green roof, green wall planting, and a rain water reclamation system for irrigation and nonpotable use.
