The Columbus State University Student Recreation Center is a three-story, 103,000 sq ft student activities building. The building features two basketball courts, two racquetball courts, an elevated running track, fitness rooms, a cardio workout area, a multi-activity court, a 40-foot climbing wall, and a 15,000 sq ft natatorium with two pools as well as a leisure area. The leisure space features seating areas, a water volleyball court, and a lazy river. Located at the heart of campus, the recreation center is a centerpiece for Columbus State University.

In addition to servings as a place for students to engage in physical activities, the Student Recreation Center provides common areas for social gathering. The main concourse offers gathering areas and visual access to the multiple activities inside. A 7,000 sq ft multipurpose room for recreation and banquet use and a meeting room with videoconferencing capability are provided for general use.

Due to the extremely compressed schedule and the need to have a GMP established from design development, Brasfield & Gorrie took a more aggressive approach to our preconstruction services. We committed two senior-level employees 100 percent to the project from award. These two management experts were well versed in estimating and cost management strategies and were supported by our head of estimating as well as estimating assistants during major pricing of documents.
