ABC Mid-Tennessee Excellence in Construction Award – CMC Heart Tower

This three-year, 418,000 sq ft master expansion and renovation on Centennial Medical Center’s campus included construction of a 38,000 sq ft cancer center that provides surgical services; a stereotactic radiosurgery unit; CyberKnife®, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy services; and an arthritis specialists floor that consists of 21 exam rooms, a bone density machine, X-ray equipment, a laboratory, an infusion suite, and multiple physician offices.

The project also included a 200,000 sq ft cardiology expansion. This vertical expansion and renovation added five operating rooms, six catheterization laboratories, 32 cardiac care unit rooms, 28 preparation and recovery rooms, 29 patient beds, and shell space for 29 future beds. Construction took place over an operating emergency room department and heliport.

The project also added a new lobby entrance and patient drop-off area; a two-story lobby with pre-admission testing and registration areas; a surgical suite with four operating rooms, preoperative areas, and recovery space; an imaging center; a laboratory; a pharmacy; and a healing garden.
