I have been fortunate to work with some great mentors who took chances on me. We have plenty of opportunities today with all different departments and number of projects out there. It’s full of growth.”

LEE
Project Director

Lee decided to make construction his career after working as a laborer with his dad and grandad. Lee started in the field and worked his way up, learning everything he could—from the nuts and bolts to the big concepts.

How did you get into construction?

My grandfather was a carpenter and my father started a small construction company when I was 12.  If I wasn’t in school, I was helping them as a laborer, holding a grade rod and cleaning out footings. It was a fun workplace and rewarding work so I decided to make it my career.

How has your career grown since starting at Brasfield & Gorrie?

I started as an assistant superintendent working for Kenny Pearson. Then after two projects, the company took a chance and let me come into project management before running my own jobs.

What I love about our culture at Brasfield & Gorrie is that we are always training our replacement and preparing for the next generation. I have been fortunate to work with some great mentors that took a chance on me. We have plenty of opportunities today with all the different departments and number of projects out there. It’s full of growth.

What do you like most about your job? What are you passionate about in construction?

What I like about my job is that it is never boring. We have a very tangible business where results can be easily recognized. I like to be challenged and I like to have autonomy. I have that here. I also love the teamwork aspect of my job. Problem-solving with the team is a lot of fun.

What is a valuable lesson that you’ve learned during your career? Any advice you’d like to share?

The lessons I’ve learned from all the people I’ve worked with at Brasfield & Gorrie: whatever happens, just do the right thing. The company is here to support you.
