How has your career grown since starting at Brasfield & Gorrie?

Brasfield & Gorrie has given me loads of opportunities to grow since the day I started working here. My career has grown exponentially. I started with the company as a laborer and I’m now a field engineer.

How did you get into construction?

I accidentally got put into a carpentry class in high school. I begrudgingly stuck with the class and ended up loving it. Howard Davis, the field training manager, came by to promote the company to my class in 2015. Brasfield & Gorrie sponsored me to go to a national carpentry championship in 2016 and then I soon ended up with a career with Brasfield & Gorrie.

What do you like most about your job? What are you passionate about in construction?

My favorite thing about my job is the problem solving. I really enjoy the challenges that must be worked through to get the best results. My passion is helping people, so whenever someone comes to me with a problem in the field, I love to be the one that can help.

What is a valuable lesson that you’ve learned during your career? Any advice you’d like to share?

One valuable lesson I’ve learned in my career is to keep your head up and keep pushing. A lot of unforeseen events happen on jobs and it can get stressful. It is very important that I don’t get caught up in the stress and let those things have negative impact on me. My advice to others is that every job is temporary, so are the hardships. Don’t let the negative things ruin the potentially amazing experience for yourself.
