I’m passionate about putting the pieces together to create a building and watching what’s on paper come to life. Every day is a new challenge and a new opportunity for you to learn and grow in your career.”

HERACLIO
Superintendent

At 12 years old, Superintendent Heraclio found his passion for construction while working with his father, who owned a residential construction business. Heraclio loves bringing a building to life and he focuses on ensuring quality and safety.

How did you get into construction?

My dad owned a residential construction company. During the summer, he would take me with him to work. I was about 12 years old and my duties were cleaning up, helping his workers, toting lumber, and whatever they needed. As I got older, I began using power tools. I didn’t see working as a punishment. I loved construction. I have a passion for building.

About nine years ago, Brasfield & Gorrie was building the Anzalduas Crossing Land Port of Entry in Mission, Texas. At that time, I was living in Arizona. I moved down to Texas with my family and took a carpentry position with Brasfield & Gorrie.

How has your career grown since starting at Brasfield & Gorrie?

Brasfield & Gorrie has so many opportunities. If you put it in your mind that you want to move up or grow in your career, you can. I started as a carpenter, then foreman, and now I’m a superintendent. I’m fortunate that I’m working around the best leaders. They’re willing to help anyone who is willing to help themselves.

What does your day-to-day look like at work?

Every day, we deal with people, problem solve, coordinate schedules, and take a lot of phone calls. Early in the morning, I’m one of the first employees at the site. I walk the site with the team and make sure we’re on the same page, working safely, and not taking shortcuts. I like to put my eyes on the what we’re working on.

What are you passionate about in construction?

I’m passionate about putting the pieces together to create a building and watching what’s on paper come to life. Every day is a new challenge and a new opportunity for you to learn and grow in your career.

What is a valuable lesson that you’ve learned during your career?

Know your project. Know the details. The details are the first thing to learn and master. Your project will fall in place. Don’t take shortcuts, or you will lose quality.
