Brasfield & Gorrie Project To Be Honored At AGC Event


Birmingham, AL---Brasfield & Gorrie will be recognized with an Associated General Contractors (AGC) Build Alabama New Design-Build award for their work on the UAB Women and Infants Center/Radiation Oncology/POB at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The hospital is a nine-story, 630,000 sq-ft facility that will provide women’s services, a labor and delivery area, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and state-of-the-art radiation and oncology department.

The $155 million facility broke ground on April 1, 2007 and was completed December 1, 2009. 
Brasfield & Gorrie considers the Women and Infants Center a big success story for the company and was proud to have had the opportunity to work with several partners on this unique project.

Those who helped make this facility a reality include Gresham Smith and Partners, Kahn South Inc., LBYD, L.C. Thomasson, Walter Schoel Engineering, Hardy Corporation and Griffin Electric. Brasfield & Gorrie also credits a strong relationship with the Owner, UAB, and their support throughout the duration of this project.

The banquet will be held on January 15, 2010 at The Club in Birmingham.
